Negotiations, they are always uncomfortable

What many candidates find most uncomfortable are the final negotiations after you have been offered a job. It may be the job of your dreams, but the money is not quite enough, or the responsibility is not quite big enough or the hours are inconvenient to you. So you can decide to do one of two things, turn the job down or try and negotiate a better offer. And we reckon at least 50% of you will just turn it down. In fact if we were not involved, it could be even higher. This is madness, after all if you ask for a bit more and they say no you are still in the same position. If they say yes, then everyone is happy. Embarrassment at this stage is just simply not worth it. Changing a job is difficult enough, turning down roles that you might have got just because you were too embarrassed to ask is quite another. Negotiate away, do not feel embarrassed about it and point out to the employer that this is the last opportunity you have the negotiate your package from a position of strength. Use it wisely and you will get the best deal that you can, and potentially the job of your dreams. Good luck
